MC9706's resistance to many types of aircraft oils. Solvents (except ketone and acetone), and other chemicals is outstanding. MC9706 was successfully tested in 1999 by National Technical Systems (NTS). An independent testing company/facility located in Fullerton, California. NTS is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) for technical competence in the field of mechanical testing, which includes fire resistance and flammability testing. CFP has certification on file that MC9706 was subjected to and passed the following tests:
- FAA Power Plant engineering Report 3A (1978)
- FAA Advisory circular AC 20-135 (1990)
- The intent of Lockheed-Georgia Fire Resistance Dwg. No. D3M90001, Rev B (1 Q68) MC9706 also conforms to FAA Flight Standard #453 dated November 9, 1961. MC9706 is used for fire shielding/ fire barrier purposes on the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules.
